Oven try running it in compatibility mode for something like Windows 7.
Right-click: program icon and choose "Properties".
Select the Compatibility tab .
Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" box .
Pick an older version of Windows from the dropdown list.
Click "Apply" and then "OK ...

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?
Right-click the executable or shortcut.
Select "Properties,"
Then "Compatibility" tab.
Tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for,"
Choose an older version of Windows. (Probably 7 or 8)

I have not tried it with this software but I find it ...

If using Windows 10 or 11, do another search on the drive in question but ensure that in File Explorer under the View tab 'Hidden Items' is checked, and under the Search tab, 'Advanced Options' that System Files is checked. It seems as though on some machines the installed version has these options ...

If you have a lighting desk that supports RDM you can take in and connect, that would help a lot although is far from foolproof.

Equally, if they have any any backup at all, or maybe one you took at installation, and start with that.

@80SRocker I can't remember which one, but a fix in this list at the bottom of the page sorted it for me (Win10), albeit it was causing Nero Video to crash rather than ShowXpress.

Every time I load the system the splash screen says new version available but I cannot find it.
