Problem with Midi for Playback from Multitracks

Hello, here's what I would like to do.
Trigger a scene in Xpress from starting a song in Playback from Multitracks.
I setup an Audio Midi Setup on my Mac and the iPad is connected over ethernet and the midi setup is connected to the iPad. Xpress sees this as a midi control and I've selected the midi setup in Xpress.
The problem lies with getting Xpress to "learn a button trigger" from the midi trigger. Any advice on how to get this to work would be great. Thanks.

You can first open the window "main menu > windows > Midi logger" and check the midi message is well received by our software.
