Parcan not showing up in Editor [fixed]
As suggested in another topic, I added parcans individually instead of as a dimmer, and deleted the dimmer. Now the new channels don't show up under assigned channels, but the fixtures are in 2d view. When I click the fixture in 2d view, it switches to group, but it's blank with no sliders. Please advise how to remedy this problem.
Re: Fixtures not showing up in Editor
There is a demonstration show with parcans, in the software (in folder "LightShows").
We suggest you to import it, and to check it.

Re: Fixtures not showing up in Editor
Loading the demo show did not solve my problem. This question references this thread: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=295&start=0. I deleted the dimmer pack from my set-up, and added individual parcans as suggested in the previously mentioned thread. The parcans do not show up in the assigned channels in Editor, but they do show up in the Editor 2D view. How do I get them to show up in the Editor assigned channels tab so I can set levels for them?
Re: Fixtures not showing up in Editor
I don't quite understand you problem.
Do the fixtures not appear in the "All Channels" tab?
If you have set the start address of your dimmer to channel 1 then if you select the "All Channels" tab and raise the levels of channels 1, 2, 3 or 4 your dimmer should respond (whether it is showing as a fixture in the software or not). Does it? Don't forget to turn DMX and/or 3D on (the little traffic lights at the top of the screen).

Re: Fixtures not showing up in Editor
That is correct. The fixtures don't show up in All Channels or Assigned Channels. It only shows up in the white 2D in the upper right of the editor screen. When I click the fixture in 2D, the Editor changes to the Groups tab, and there are no sliders available.
I opened 3D, and pressed the 3D button in Editor, and brought up the channel, but it does not turn on. I even created a new light show with one parcan, and it does the same thing. The dimmer pack does show up, and is controllable, but I wanted to have each channel show up in 3D as the same color it would be in a live show.

Re: Fixtures not showing up in Editor
Can you attach your light show to a post so that I can try to reproduce the problem? It sounds like it could be a stage missed out of the setup process, but it's hard to tell with out seeing it for myself. Alternatively email it to me, my email address can be found at my website (link in my signature.)

Hi Tom,
Do I detect a little sarcasm in your comment?
I figured it out. It was indeed a missed step in the set-up process. I did not specify a channel in the set-up screen. I wish there was more complete manual. I've had the X-Factor since 2004 and have never set it up to run my show because of the lack of documentation. However, the forum has been very helpful, and I'm hoping this is the year I finally am able to run my lights through this program. Thanks for you willingness to help a newbie.

Brock Edwards

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound sarcastic. I am here to help. When I was just starting out trying to learn the business, (quite a few years ago now! Scary!) people were very kind to me on this forum. Even though I didn't own the hardware they were still happy to help me (I was just making use of the free software with visualiser!!). I just like to do my bit to help others Sorry if my post sounded sarcastic, I really didn't mean it to!
If you ever have any other questions about the software then please don't hesitate to ask.
