Fixtures Not Appearing in Editor [fixed]

Post by kevinw »

I am a V5 user just new to V6. I used the V5 to V6 conversion program to import my show into V6, it worked well. I need to add a new fixture. When I went into the Setup utility I found that there were no fixtures there, I crested my ne fixture and imported all my old fixtures. I added all fixtures to the dmx addressing list. When I go into the editor to create new scenes I find that the new fixture is not added, the Fader list and 2D list appear as it did in V5, without the new fixture. I am using Windows Vista and the Box interface.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is it added in the 2D window? There is a new lay out of faders below. It now operates on tabs. Could it be that you are on the groups tab as opposed to the all channels tab?

Could you possibly up load your V6 show somewhere so that we can have a look to try and understand your problem better?

Thank you for the fast response. I read a few more of the posts and began exploring the TheLightingControll\LightShows folder and found that I had two folders on in the user “DJ” (used for operating) and one in “Kevin” (Admin). The LightShow_from_V5 was in the “DJ” folder but the new fixtures etc were in the “Kevin” Folder, I believe this happened because whenever I run the setup program it asks me for the admin password even though I and logged in as the “DJ” user. I think I can copy the files around and make it work , but I am wondering why the rest of the program looks in “DJ” and the setup app works in “Kevin”?

(PS I Haaaatttteee Vista)

For information, Since V6, the software stores the LightShow data in the "User home directory".
You have to install the software with an Admin account but you can use it in a standard (no privilege) user account if you want.

So you have to import/convert your V5 lightshow in the same user account that you want to use the software otherwise the LightShow data will not be in the expected "User home directory".
