Triggering Flash Buttons with Touchscreen??
Triggering Flash Buttons with Touchscreen??
So I use a mac, and a midi controller for my light shows. I love the idea of using a big all in one touch screen, but after trying to play with it the flash buttons are not very responsive to the touch screen. I made a video, and then someone told me it is possible to make it work flawless; so maybe after all its not the software!! I would be super happy if there was a solution to this. i am using a sony tap 20, which is my photo kiosk computer; i would love an xps 18 for the showxpress and eliminate my midi controller (apc20).
Can anyone help?

Re: Triggering Flash Buttons with Touchscreen??
With your touch screen:
- a quick "left press" action is considered as a short left mouse click (ok for non flash buttons)
- a "left press and hold pressed" action is considered as a right mouse click (this is why you see the popup menu)
There should be a possibility, in the touchscreen settings, to check some option like "do not try to detect right mouse clicks" or "ignore right mouse clicks".

Re: Triggering Flash Buttons with Touchscreen??
Yes I did that I disabled the right click and still the same issue.
Should it be working properly?
Properly as in very responsive to finger taps and also when holding it down?

Re: Triggering Flash Buttons with Touchscreen??
The response delay should be not too far than with the mouse.
If possible, please send us a new video, with right click disable, showing:
- some left clicks with the mouse, over a non flash button
- some left + hold clicks with the mouse, over a flash button
- some left clicks with the touchscreen, over the same non flash button
- some left + hold clicks with the touchscreen, over the same flash button
Then we could compare mouse and touchscreen response.

Re: Triggering Flash Buttons with Touchscreen??
Yes, with some other touchscreens, there is no problem with flash buttons.
With the "right click disable", it looks like your touchscreen ignores now the "press and hold" action.
Can you please make some "press and hold" actions outside of our software, like for instance:
- press and hold the title bar of another window and move it
- press and hold the bottom right corner of another window and resize it
And please tell us if these actions work well, like when you do them with your mouse ?

Re: Triggering Flash Buttons with Touchscreen??
Yes those actions work fine. I also noticed that if I press on a flash button and while holding slide my finger a little bit it activates the flash button every time. Very strange. This is not going to be my lighting computer but before I make a purchase with another one I need to be certain it will work.
Re: Triggering Flash Buttons with Touchscreen??
That's important to know. This confirms why the move/resize windows works, and the flash button not.I also noticed that if I press on a flash button and while holding slide my finger a little bit it activates the flash button every time.
The "press, hold and move" triggers an action, while the "press and hold" does not.

Re: Triggering Flash Buttons with Touchscreen??
Yes that is a possibility I am now updating to windows 8.1 to see if there is any change. But I realized that only one button at a time works with the touch screen in that instance the flash button mode wont be as important to me in my shows. But I'll still be able to use a touch screen to enhance my shows for sure in addition to a midi controller. My flash buttons often require a multiple button function which works great with midi.
