Midi triggering

Post by Matthewclay »

I have never posted on a forum in my life so u can imagine how stupid this is going to sound but here it goes!

I have used this software for years & luv it. I have always just created pre made scenes & then moved them into the live show & had somebody else run the software when we play live. So basically I may have a scene with all the light on blue, then the next scene on the chorus be my moving light moving in a figure 8. I hope that makes sense.

We are now playing with tracks & to a click so I would like to program this via midi (which I am pretty good at). I'm using cubase. I can't get my head around how to program now so everything is in time with the click & moving in time.
Do I make a midi note for each color, a midi note for each movement, gobo, etc. Or is there an easier way? Or do I just keep making or using my presets that I have made? They wouldn't be quit in time, I'm just not getting it I guess. Any help would be great. Thanks so much.

I am using 4- accu spot 250 in back of stage
4- chauvet color tracks in front of stage
4-par 56 washes controlled by a dimmer pack

It is possible to trigger each button with a midi note.
right click on button > menu "button trigger" > check option "midi" > adjust channel and note

Hi Matthew,

You can set this up really easily, all you have to do is take the scenes that you have already made and assign a midi trigger to them. You do this in the program "live" if you:
right click on button > menu "button trigger" > check option "midi"
you can simply select what midi note the scene responds to.

You then can trigger these from your click track by just sending note on messages.
