Bug in V5 Time line [fixed]

Post by tomrbland »

Hi, I know you are close to a V6 Timeline so I decided to put this in the V6 forum, I noticed what I think is a bug: If I try to play a file with the name "dizzee rascal armand van helden - bonkers (Y8) (censored).mp3" Screen control performs an error and closes, but if I rename this file to "Bonkers.mp3" it will. Is this an error?

Also I notice that Timeline is cutting the firs half a second off each track when it plays them, this is irritating as I edit all my tracks to start instantly and am having to add soem silence before them so that I get the start of the first note. Is this right? Or is it just my computer?

Cheers
Tom

Please note that the forum for version 5 is still active, so the posts for version 5 must be done in it (we will certainely move this thread in it).
If I try to play a file with the name "dizzee rascal armand van helden - bonkers (Y8) (censored).mp3" Screen control performs an error and closes, but if I rename this file to "Bonkers.mp3" it will.
When you run a multimedia file, our software asks the OS to play it. Then the OS use the existing Codecs to play it. In other words, we just display a container which shows the file playing, like the Windows Media Player does. It is not easy to explain with easy words. You just need to understand that the job (file playing) is done by the OS, and not by us.
So there is a good chance that this problem exists whatever is the "container" player. Can you check for instance with the Windows Media Player ?
Timeline is cutting the firs half a second off each track when it plays them.
This delay is due to the processor time to load the file and play it. For instance, if the file is on a cdrom, the delay will be a few seconds. This delay will still exists, but it can be very small, depending of your computer, and from where you store the file.

I posted it in the V6 form as I thought it was more relevent to the V6 vertion than looking back at V5.

A file called: "dizzee rascal armand van helden - bonkers (Y8) (censored).mp3" will play in Media Player, but makes screen control perform an ileagal error and has to close. If I rename the same file simply: "dizzee rascal.mp3" It plays in time line perfectly.

We just sent you an email with a new ScreenControl application for software V5.
Please tell if this fixes the problem.
