Creating a Slider Button in Live [fixed]

Post by rbekel »

I am trying to find out how to create a slider button in Live. According to the demo light show, it appears as though there is a show for some moving heads. then there are 2 slider buttons one for gobos and one for colors. I'm trying to understand how to create a scene so as to be able to change the color and or the gobo while the scene is running. Aparently there is a scene for the movement, then another scene for the color and a 3rd scene for the gobo? How do you put that all together then and create the slider button in live?

I think you may be referring to "preset" buttons. If you make a scene which has a step for each gobo then import this scene in to live, you can right click and select "preset scene". Does this do what you want it to do?

tomrbland, Yes you are right. I was able to create 4 preset buttons for 2 moving heads. One has different head movement combinations. The second adjusts the color, the 3rd adjusts the gobos, and the 4th adjusts the movement speed. It works pretty well except it is tricky to determine which of the 4 buttons has to be activated first in order for it to work. There probably is some hirachy as to which one has to be set on first for that to work. But all in all it's working now.

Along the same lines is it possible to set up preset buttons for Red, Green, and Blue with Intensity? It appears inorder for that to work one needs to set up a number of scenes in order to get the slider to work. The problem with that is how do you set the time for each scene so that it doesn't change on you unless you want it to? I want to be able to mix a group of lights colors quickly in live without going to the editor and manipulating them there. Any Ideas?

You are correct. The only way of doing this is by making a preset of R, one of G, and one of B. These is no way of doing it directly.
