Chauvet Color Rail 3d workaround?

Post by amac2673 »

Hi all,

I have 6 Color Rails and really wanted to use them with this software as I would like the ability to use the 3D visualizer. Since the they do not have this as an option I thought I would just use 8 color changers instead since the Color Rail is basically like having 8 RGB Pars in one housing, and arrange them in a straight line, GREAT! Only problem is channel 1 in the 26 channel mode is a master dimmer and channel 26 is a strobe>??? My question is, is it possible to put a master fader and a master strobe channel on a group of channels???

Is there any other way to build a fixture like this in the setup from scratch and have each RGB set of channels use one of the color changers in 3d mode?

Thanks for your help

Sorry but 3DView is presently not able to show properly multi-rgb fixtures with commun channels like "dimmer" and "strobe".
In a few weeks, we will propose a new alternative program.

Yes, I realize that Showxpress does not have these fixtures, that's why I am trying a workaround. I guess that I can live without the master dimmer and strobe channels while using the 3d visualizer and incorporate these channels when I actually have my lights plugged into the computer.

The way I have it setup is like this,

ColorRail 1, start address 1-26/ channel 1 is master dimmer and channel 26 is strobe, channel 2 starts the first section of RGB, there are 8 sections.
RGB Parcan 1 channel 2-4, RGB 2/5-7, RGB 3/8-10, RGB 4/11-13, RGB 5/14-16, RGB 6/17-19, RGB 7/20-22, RGB 8/23-25.

Since it is possible to have multiple fixtures assigned to the same DMX address this should work.

This way I can program the ColorRails in the visualizer minus the master dimmer and strobe, and since I have the ColorRail profile
already on the channels as well when I plug my lights into the system they work too!

The hardest part is making the ColorRails in the visualizer, "a bit time consuming". But once they are there its all good.

Thank you for the explaination.
This is presently the lonely way to see these kind of fixtures in 3DView
