Waves Fit controller - how to faders?

Post by dumbfungus »

I can’t get faders on my waves fit to work properly. Do I need a specific mode for the controller? What settings for showXpress midi preferences? (Xtouch, Apc40/20, default)

Thanks,

Please tell us what midi messages you see in the windows "Midi logger" of our software.

I’m sorry it’s just much easier for me to link to my Facebook posts in order to get photos and videos in here. Thank you for the help!

It says it’s a Pitchwheel command , and these faders are touch sensitive - even if they aren’t being adjusted, they send a midi message just for being touched - one message for on (127) and one message for off (0).

The next fader over is the same channel (1) for touch sensitivity, but sliding the fader - commands are channel 2 as I would have expected.

Ok I’ve looked into it a lot deeper and figured out that this isn’t worth the trouble , unfortunately.

I’ve tried the Fit controller in all 3 modes: LV1 , Mackie Control , and HUI.

LV1 mode is what these videos were made using. The good news is that all buttons register on MIDI Logger. The bad news is that faders may never work. It’s beyond my capabilities.

Mackie Control has the first 8 channels worth of controls (select buttons, mute buttons, solo buttons, faders, knobs). But 9-16 arent transmitted out of the controller at all. Additionally, several button on the far right seem to have permanent assignments and don’t send midi out.

HUI mode is the opposite and only channels 9-16 transmits midi, leaving half the controller unusable. Same thing with a few buttons on the right.

I also tried monkeying around with showXpress preferences - using default or xtouch or apc20/40 device types. There was a lot of mixing and matching (fit mode, device type, etc) and I probably didn’t get them all. But I think I’m giving up now, sadly.

Oh well , worth a shot. This controller would be fantastic for ShowXpress
