It's fine; i'll get it worked out. If for some reason they cannot help me out I will return it and go with a different laser.....maybe one from x laser.

Okay I talked to the tech at Omnisistem and told him that both Stinger lasers are not responding. I asked him if there was any weird dmx mode setting or anything and he said not at all; he confirmed I had it set up right.

He told me that I need to be able to change the refresh rate in Showxpress. If it is not possible to increase the refresh rate somehow is there another DMX software that will work with the Chauvet Xpress 512 controller?

Also, is there any way possible that not terminating the signal could cause this problem?

It is always wise to terminate your signal chain.

With regard to the refresh rate. The streaming frequency is adjustable if you go in to settings - other - streaming frequency.

Okay, so I have tried everything that the omnisistem tech told me and it still doesn't work. He said he thinks it's a problem with Showxpress as they test every Stinger that leaves the shop using Daslight (They make the Stingers when you order them).

So he said if we return the Stinger and it works he cannot issue credit back for them. Our only recourse is to send back the Xpress 512 controller and try Daslight instead (Similar pricerange and functionality). He said it's company policy that they handle returns of made to order products this way. He also said if the lasers still don't work with Daslight then send the lasers back.

Part of me got really annoyed at this device because showxpress seems simple and like it can do what I need it to. Then the other part of me says, he's just trying to help us avoid the annoyance of shipping out two heavy lasers first off when we can just send back a tiny box with the controller first to see if that will fix it.

We think there is certainly no problem with our product, but we can not help more without the light fixture. So we will understand that you take the decision to change the controller, because much easier regarding shipment. If you do this, please keep us informed if it is working better with another lighting controller.

hi the maual says this

The NEW Stinger Series offers up to 7 Channels of DMX-512 control. If you have purchased a single color laser
some of these values and channels may not be used. This is controlled at the PCB level of your product therefore
adjusting those faders will not damage the unit nor will it have any effect
channel1:
00-10 Beam Off
11-50 Beam On (Green/Red/Blue Stingers)
51-90 Green/Blue Only
91-130 Red Only
131-170 Beam On (Green/Red Stingers)
171-255 Beam Off (Slow)

if i understand this correct the beam should go on between 91-130 if u use the red stinger
did u try all of these steps?
(ofcourse channel 3 should be above valua 9?
channel 4,5,6,7 u can use but arent nessasary to see the beam on

Yes, I did everything the manual said to the t and no dice. I did take one of the Stingers up to Guitar Center today and hooked it up to an Elation DMX controller (hardware). The laser worked perfectly.

The only thing I haven't tried yet is a dmx termination just in case it would have something to do with it. Guitar Center was out of termination connectors though.

I think I'm either going to try Daslight, Martin Light Jockey or buy a hardware controller such as the Elation Show Designer 1 or an NSI MLC 128R.

I don't want this to reflect negatively on Showxpress; it seems like a good software. For some reason it just isn't working and I have to find a solution.
