Hi. During festival i tried using the beat feature, but to avail. It was all over the place. We had a kickdrum feed from mixer into the pc software. But as soon as the drummer missed a beat or added a double kick it started calculating all over the place rendering it useless. Forcing me to use BPM and tap beat. And it would be really helpful if the software actually told me what bpm it was at. Maybe i could learn from it. See how long it takes for software to achieve correct bpm.
Mind you. Running a 120bpm feed from youtube was 100% correct. It's just that people are not.

Yes BPM real time analyse is not an exact science.
And the software needs effectively some time to calculate the new BPM.
No way to avoid that.
