MIDIcon 2 Rotary Encoders

Post by Shakes »

Hi all.

Could desperately do with some help re this controller.
I've read previous posts and followed the advice and answers given but I'm obviously missing something.

I cannot get preset or fader buttons to correctly respond to any rotary controller other than "off (0%)" and/or "maximum (100%)" however, fader controllers do work as desired.

I have 2 scenarious I'm trying to achieve.
i. Rotary to control a preset button for fixture colour wheels and gobos.
ii. I have fader buttons in live that control pan and tilt of fixtures. I'm trying to gain control of these via a rotary encoder as means of a manual overide.

As mentioned. Faders on the MIDIcon DO work but rotaries don't.

Can anyone give an "Idiots guide" please?

Thanks

Sorry but our software is presently not able to manage such midi signal.

Thanks support for your prompt reply.

Shame but hopefully rotary controls can be included in future updates?

Not sure presently.
Before we will have to check two things:
1. is it exclusive on this device or not ?
2. if not, how to manage that with our software ?

We do not think we could study that before V9 will be ready (no date for V9).

Excert from the MIDIcon manual.
All rotaries are basic data but no idea how you'd incorporate it into the software. :?

Hello,
I recently encountered this problem as well. Does anyone know why the original Midicons rotary wheels worked and why the MIDIcon 2 does not? I'm definently not impressed with the new board. Of course the old ones rotary wheels worked, but also had the nice flash button panel.

Yes, it has to do with the way the data is coded. There is a small difference between the coding in the original MIDICON and the new one so SX doesn't register the new rotary encoders.

Please, can someone post the midi log obtained in the "Midi logger" window when rotating these MIDIcon 2 Rotary Encoders ?

Same value when rotated. I rotated each wheel starting with the left wheel and then moving right.

Why would Elation do this? To me it seems as they sent them out with the wrong midi coding.
