Upgrade from V7 to V8

Post by jimhomerski »

I have an older installation of ShowXpress (version 7.1.74) that works well for my needs but I'd like to upgrade to the latest version of ShowXpress (v 8.2.24). I don't want to loose any of the configurations or lightshow(s) that I have in place. What is the best way to accomplish this? Install the new version right over the old one or install a fresh copy of the latest version and then import the old/7.1.74 lightshow(s)? Bottom line is that I don't want to lose anything.

Personally, I would copy all your ver7 lightshows to another folder, and also install v8 in a new folder so that you can have both versions running.
All scene changes in v8 will be changed to .scex files and are not downward compatible to v7. Once you are fully happy with v8 you can then delete the others.

Yes, this is a wise advise.
