Video Playback

Post by tomrbland »

Hey,

Is there any chance we could improve the loop feature in screen control? I have recently started using Video and I have used Screen Monkey in the past. But I would like to incorporate video in to Sweetlight. Unfortunately there is a slight pause while the video loops. I have also experienced issues with the video starting when cued in timeline, I have found that it doesn't start right away. This doesn't happen with the 1st clip but it does with the 2nd. Any ideas?

Cheers

Could it be that old codec chestnut that alluded to similar problems in audio ? Using uncompressed video (obviously increases the source file) and not use Divx etc ?

I havnt used video in this yet so I am shooting in the dark.

Yeah I had the same thought last night. If it is (bit of a stupid question here) what is the video equivalent of an uncompressed wav file?

According to my guitarist (who is right into that kind of thing) I believe it is MPG, although you can still get a compressed file that can be saved as mpg file but you can also have it uncompressed but it retains the mpg Extention, I do know these become rather large but it would be worth it considering it may sort your problem.

You would needto re insert your video files into a video app and re sample it as 'uncompressed' and use that file.

Hmm,

They are MPGs. A 15 second clip is 10,984 KB does that sound uncompressed to you? Its shocking, I know nothing about video. Irritating really. But Hey you have to start some where!

I'll do some more tests when I get chance. I want to make sure that it happens every time I do it. If it does could you possibly give a show a try on your computer? Just to see if its simply my computer being slow.

Sure,

Although I am approaching the end of designing theshow, lightsand software. Looks incredible now but ony 6 weeks to rehearse !

Ifyou have problems then send an example.

It is worth noting though, on our XP laptop we have audio lag at the start of playing but it only happens on XP. We used a lesser spec laptop with windows 7 and they played no problems.
