How I have been controlling CMY fixtures with Pixels!

Post by dj spiff »

For a few years I have been using my MAC 300 washes with pixels. it's kind of a hack but it works nicely.
first off, i set up all my RGB fixtures and arrange them. then I add all my CMY fixtures. I map the CMY wheels to RGB. here's the trick. when I set up my effects, i do a normal palette for my RBG fixtures and create an effect. I then select only the CMY fixtures and create an inverse palette for a new effect. it goes like this: C=255-R M=255-G Y=255-B that's it! forget the K, as it's just the dimmer.

Using this method my 300's and my RGB's act the same. The generated scenes include both effects.

Care should be taken not to swing the wheels too hard, but I haven't noticed any ill effects in the units. just beautiful color schemes.

I also make sure to set up the fixtures correctly with first channels and last channels disabled. This allows for proper layering.

good luck and don't break anything!
