Disable channel for individual steps..

Is there a way to disable a channel for selected steps without disableing it for the entire scene?

Application: I have some RGB TechnoStrobes. One scene has the lights chasing through the RGB colors. Another scene causes the lights to stobe about 1 flash (0.1sec) per second. I would like to be able to disable the RGB channels, on the strobe scene, during the pause (step) between flashes, so the chase scene can run.

Is that not when you can click to put a tick in the channel you want to remove and simply hit Control+X which I know is how I removed channels from a scene.

It is not possible for a channel to be active in some steps and not active in some other steps, in one scene.
