Fading scenes throw a theatre show

Hi

I want to design a program to run a small theatre show. It`s need to be foolprof. Fadeing from one scene to the next. Or from one step -of a scene- to the next one at the tauch of one key in the keypad. How shall i plan it to accomplish this?
