Remove a scene fixture control BUT NOT THE FIXTURE

Post by AcoustiCafe »

Hi folks,
Apologies if this is redundant, but I did a search and everything was talking about removing an entire fixture from the program.

So, I'm fairly familiar with ShowXpress basics but all we do are simple lighting mood scenes and I'm really the TD with a live sound and gov't AV background at church (not the lighting guy per se). Well, we lost/are losing our 2 regular lighting folk to job changes and...LOVE...(yay for them, but dangit for me), so I'm now THE lighting guy at our church.

Ok, the issue. We have a page of presets which change the color of the LED Bars over the stage, along the back of the stage walls, and along the top edge of the walls down each side of the seating area. All that's good, they all do what we need.

Problem is, the original scenes also included our white LED spots that light up the extended center stage area when someone comes up there, as it's a bit too forward for our regular legacy lamp light bar. I don't want the white spots in the scene anymore, as I made a scene to just turn those white LED spots on and off whenever we need, and ONLY those. That new scene works great, too. But, I can't figure out how to remove control of those white LED spots from the color change scenes (I still need the white LED fixtures in other scenes, just not in these).

I've been able to ADD fixtures to a scene, but I can't seem to figure out how to REMOVE them. I'll right click the color scenes and select Edit, and then highlight all of the fixtures (under the Universe buttons) that are already in the scene, then hold down Ctrl and click the fixtures I don't want in the scene anymore to deselect them, and they'll go away from the "Selected" tab view as expected. Then I try resaving the scene, even moving the dimmer setting to "make it" see a change and save it. But, the fixtures are still always there under "Used" and the scene doesn't change. YET THIS IS WHAT EVERYTHING I SEARCH TELLS ME TO DO.

I feel like I'm missing some minor, but very important, little item that everyone's solution assumes I know, but I don't.
Help?

Hello,

You have to:
- select the channels
- right click on one of the selected channels
- select the menu "Disable selected channels"
