Adding and removing fixtures to Generator File

I understand the limitations around adding and removing different fixtures in a generator file when there are channels that are not shared between fixture models. But can you make it possible to add and remove the same fixtures to a generator file to increase and decrease the fixture quantity?
I took a look inside a generator file and it looks like it would be only a matter of creating the workflow in the software to update a generator file code to add and remove fixtures of the same model to increase or decrease the quantity OR change the fixtures the file applies to.
When I have 8 fixtures and I want to add 4 more, I have to recreate many geneator files - real problem.
When I have 12 of a fixture and I want to change which 6 fixutres that file applies to - real problem.
You could have a dialog box for cherry picking the fixtures that the generator file applies to when editing the generator files. It could be called "Select Fixtures" When you select this button or option, a box pops up like the channels list that lists all your fixtures but it would only allow you to select the fixtures that the generator file you are editing was origionally created with. The fixtures would then be re-divided by offset values automatically once you add or remove fixtures. So if my generator file used a ColorDash Par Quad 7, I could only add or remove more ColorDash Par Quad 7's.
For generator files were only one channel was selected and it's a mix of fixtures (Such as dimming) you could allow any fixture with that channel type to be selected in the popup window.
I've attached a screnshot of the popup cherry pick check box window I'm referring to.
