I cannot get HTC Evo to connect to Live

I cannot get HTC Evo to connect to Live on either a windows XP or Windows 7 machine. I get error message saying "unable to connect to live. I have done a reinstall of the program on the phone, I am on the same wireless network and watched the video by Rockin Rob several times and followed each step carefully. Can someone please assist in this matter.
