Depending of the model, our interfaces have one (or two) of these protections:
1. diode protection
The target of this diode is to protect against power surge.
When the power surge happen, it short circuits it to protect the rest of the pcb.
It works very well with usual (fast) power surges.
But when the power surge is to long with an important current (means very big problem in the dmx line), it burns.
All of our interfaces have this protection.
2. optical isolation
The dmx input is optically isolated from the rest of the pcb.
This is the best possible protection against ground loop.
Not all of our interfaces have this protection.
