Wish list of items for Live

Keep in mind I work with live bands and the set list I get may not exist or change from time to time so I have to have a lot of flexibility in the lighting to react to what they choose to play. I also run sound at the same time so this program frees me up a lot to be able to run both.

1.) Rename buttons. I group my live boards by fixture and name the scenes in setup by fixture & function. So, "Red/Blue Par" could be put under the "Par" board and renamed to just "Red/Blue". This way, I can jam more buttons in a board. Depending on the programming, you could make it rather simple to assume the name of the scene as the scene name unless that value was entered in so old shows would not have to be changed. I don't know, maybe a "name=" field in the .ini would do it.

2.) Along the lines of the tap synch button (the drum), could you add a x2, x4, /2, and /4 buttons to double, quatruple, half and quarter the current speed? A lot of songs double or half their tempo and I am pretty on with the drummer as far as my speed. I think I could three taps for new speeds. Having just one button frees me up a lot.

3.) I would like to see a 2nd or 3rd step play/pause button. The Play/Pause button works great but if I had a second one or third one, I could stack my scenes in Live.

4.) Support for 8 boards streched across dual monitors. Sorry, but I think I am not the only one who wants this.

5.) A way to manually edit button sizes. For the most part, the auto size works out fine however; there are some instances, where changing the size of the buttons would be nice for readabiltiy, especially until number 1 is addressed.

Overall, I like the new changes. I have not implemented it in production, yet, but I am close. I am especially happy that you support x64, now. Thank you.

Thank you for this post.

1) We are afraid this would bring misundertanding (presently it is easy: same name for button and scene). We are not sure this is a priority feature to do. We are waiting for other user's mind.

2) This is in the TODO list. This should be done soon.

3) This would be difficult to do. We think nowadays, only a few people use the play/pause button, and it look that only one is enough for them. Creating a "multi" play/pause button is not in the TODO list for now.

4) '8 boards' is in the TODO list. This should be done soon.
'strech across dual monitors': the Operating System does not propose a 'maximize' function for more than one screen, so you should have to do the strech by yourself.

5) This would take a lot of time to do this, and we are not convinced this is a priority thing to do.

1.) I don't think this could lead to misunderstanding since you would have to manually change the name of the button, otherwise it would assume the same name as the scene.

2.) Sounds great!

3.) Wishful thinking. Again, I am in a live environment so I never have a plan as far a scenes and that is why I have to have so many.

4.) There is third party software that can stretch a single application across multiple monitors. I would just be careful of where you put the break on an 8 board design so that it could hopefully not distort any buttons in that break between the screens. Most would use a screen of the same size so the break would be in the exact middle and I know the exact middle of the live screen is in a board because some of the real estate on the right hand side is devoted to play/pause and the speed buttons. For instance, in this message edit screen, if I extend it between both monitors at full screen, the W in the "Preview button" is broken. I can E-Mail you a screen shot if you are interested.

5.) Again, wishful thinking. Mainly, I would like it because I cannot rename buttons.

I do like the additional colors, by the way. Thanks!

Our original idea for 8 boards was to basically divide by 8 the available space (screen minus play/pause button area), without considering the size of each monitor.
We understand the idea of a more "clean" boards split.
This might take more time to do this.
May be we will do firstly only the "not clean" boards split.
We will see that on time.

The ONLY complaint I have about Show Express is that there is no Grandmaster of fade ability and it is too difficult to create fades in the scenes

If anyone can help - then please do

Thanks

Rob

Added in the TODO list, but no date for that feature.

How about #2, a button that divides or multiplies the value in the current BPM field by 2, 3, 4, or 8 I am thinking a set of buttons underneath it with X2, X3, X4, X8 and the next colum with /2, /3, /4, /8. There is certainly plenty of room.

I had this problem yesterday. I wanted the lights to go twice as fast as the music so rather than 1/1 I wanted a 1/0.5 option!

plenty of room
Please think about people using the software with a cheap notebook computer (1024*600).
This room is so coveted. We have a big list of gadgets to put here, and only a few of them will get this chance.

By the way, it is already possible to adjust the auto BPM from 1/1 to 1/8, for each button. If you build several buttons with different auto BPM speed, this will fix your problem.

If I want the lights to change every 2nd beat I use 1/2. Every beat - 1/1 etc thats fine. What I was saying above is what about every half a beat?
