Events / Audio in timeline shifting around [fixed]

When I place a song in the Audio portion of the timeline songs don't show up as the proper duration. For example a 3-minute song shows as 4:45 in the timeline. Worse yet, when I enter cues in Light Scene part of the timeline those events don't shift around, but the music DOES. So, if I play the song back the beats of the music have shifted forward or back in time so that they no longer match the cues I entered. I've even tried locking events, but that doesn't help. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.
