The Lighting Controller

I use a MIDI device to control the button board in LIVE. I need to use a different MIDI device temporarily. I'm considering:

1. Save a copy of of my current (working) LIVE.ini file to an alternate location (like the Desktop).
2. Install and configure the limited MIDI controller, in LIVE.
3. When I'm ready to switch back to my regular MIDI device; just replace the working LIVE.INI file with the one I previously saved to the desktop.
4. Expected result: My LIVE configuration will be as it was when I saved it to the desktop, with the original MIDI control info in place.

Will this work, for the application described?

I would go download an app called 'midipicker' run it and lets yoou cheery pick what Midi device you want, using it you can jump to and fro whatever midi device you wnat and no need to meddle with Swseetlight/ Showexpress.

Only a though, it is how Ii would be doing it.

The problem isn't switching the device.

I'll have to change the MIDI trigger (notes) setting for individual buttons in LIVE, to suit my other controller. I'm looking for an easy way to switch them back.

Application: I'm currently using an entire 49 key USB-MIDI keyboard to trigger scenes (and it works VERY well). I want to use a 25 key keyboard temporarily, so I'll have to change the MIDI setting of the 25 buttons I'll assign to the 25-key unit. When I'm done with the 25 key unit, I'd like to be able to easily restore the LIVE (MIDI trigger) settings that I'm currently using for the 49-key unit.

"Live.ini" contains effectively the midi trigger infos.
And "param.ini" contains the midi device info.

If you switch "live.ini" (and if you select the correct midi device in ControlBoard->Patch), this will work. But we do not encourage this. We suggest you to make a backup of your lightshow, and each lightshow with its specific midi patch.
