copy/paste section in Timeline [fixed]

Post by jaxx00974 »

I know we all want cut and paste features, but !

How possible is it to collapse or bounce down scenes placed into maybe say 4 lightscene Timlines down into one. You could therfor create a complex timline using scenes, once happy you could select them all and create a new scene which would include all your work. This would be great if you done a complex scene for a chorus in a song then use that bounuced down scene in the next chorus etc without needing to reprogramme all your light scenes again ?

So basically bouncing down all your lightingtimlines into a new scene to re-use ? Ideally one would love to be able to re-expand it again for possible editing ?

Just an idea ? Maybe simpler to programme than cutting and pasting ?

Hello support.

This has nothing to do with timline living alongside live.

The featrure we where suggesting was being able 'bounce or merge portions of a timline into a new scene.

For example, lets say

1. I have my song.wav file in the audio timeline
2. Creating scenes for the song above
3. The Chorus in my song involves a super complex series of scenes which takes forever to do for 'every' chorus

What would be cool is if we could somehow 'grab' or merge ALL the scenes I did for that complex chorus and save it as a single scene (which would have all the comlex scenes inside). Thus everytime this chorus appears in the song I could place the one single merged scene.

You have no idea how much time this would save.

Lee.

Understood. And, yes we can imagine the time you would save with such function.

Just another question:
- you ask for a for a possibility to merge the scenes of a portion of a timeline into one single scene
- some time ago, we got the requirement for "copy/paste" a portion of a timeline (no merging, but just copy and paste)
I looks like both requirements are for same purpose, please confirm ?

If yes, we would prefer to add "copy/paste timeline section" in the TODO list, instead of "merge scenes from portion". Please confirm this is also ok for you.
We do not know when we could do this, but we want to write the right text in the TODO list. And regarding software coding, "copy/paste section" looks much easier than "merge section".

I agree they are similar in alot of respects, however, the 'merge scenes' would allow us to save this merged complex scene for re-use in another project where as copy/ paste wouldnt allow this.

Is it possible to have both ?

If push ameto shove and only one could be done Iw ould 100% go for copy/paste. I just thought 'merge scenes' would allow us to further build up our scenes collection with some merge presets.

Ok.
We put "copy/paste section" in TODO list.
And we keep in mind "merge section".

Great stuff guys.

Just as a side note, if you did manage to do the 'merge' thing, would you also be able to look at also reversing it which would maybe be called 'expand' ? which would be the best of both worlds, we could then merge and re-expand until our hearts are contenet and would give the user an incredible amount of control of their timeline. Of course this alongside normal cut and paste would be fantastic.

Kind regards,

Lee.

As long as you could copy from one timeline to another with simple windows copy comands like ctrl click or shift click and control c(copy) control v (paste) I feelwould be great as you could just past it as many times along a timeline as needed as long as you held control you could drag to the needed location untill you had it synced up.
Im not to fimiluar with the other terms but I guess I could learn that also
