The Lighting Controller

I recently got a showxpress interface and a chauvet colorstrip. I addressed my fixture both on showxpress and on the light itself. I hooked up my interface to the computer and the controlboard recognizes it. The colorstrip's blue light in the back is blinking. The pc connection light is blinking on the interface. I have checked the dmx button on editior and on live. But for some reason, I cant seem to communicate with my light. It is not following anything I do on showxpress. Please help.

I have a xpress 512 controller and use windows 7

May be there is some special setting (or dmx value to a specific channel) for the fixture to make it controllable by dmx (?)
