V7.1.0 is not supported anymore.
Please use the current software version.

I get frequent inconsistent crashes with the current Mac version, too. Sometimes it crashes immediately upon startup.
Does ShowXpress do any kind of self-reporting or logging for crashes?

We recently found a possible crash when there is another window above the main software window (like for instance 3DView). May be this is your problem (?)
We will publish a fix asap..
