With the Live Boards having the same settings between 5.2 and 6.0, I have noticed that 5.2 is much better at "word wrapping" scene names on buttons overall.
For example, my Scene called "A10 Key Blue", in exactly the same settings (Size of window, number of buttons, number of boards etc...) between the two versions looks like this:
6.0 shows:
A10
5.2 shows:
A10
Key
Blu
e
In every scenario I tried 5.2 was far better at giving me more information of the Scene name on the button than 6.0.
-Is this something you can bring up to 5.2's performance, or better? Or will I need to find another way to work-around the limitations?

Re: Readibility of Scene Buttons
The old program Live was able to do this, because of using the Windows Framework.
Now we can not use anymore the Windows Framework, because our software is multi Operating Systems.
So right now, we are not able to improve this.

Support,
In a sense this could be viewed as another request for a naming feature for Live Buttons. That feature may be worthwhile, if enough people wanted it and it was something that would fit into the constraints of the program.
I can work-around how the Scene names are presented on the Buttons by dividing any Board of 12 or more buttons into a two separate boards, I.e. a Part 1 and Part 2 Boards for a song. This would, in effect, increase the size of the Live buttons by having fewer on the Board and increasing the area in which the Scene name can be presented.
But I still have the problem of organizing the Scene Files for easy use.
Now, I understand that each of the LD's, bands, clubs and production companies do use this programming in a variety of styles. Whether it's busking for a variety of acts, lighting a corporate event or working as a dedicated designer to a production.
In my case, I work as dedicated designer to a production and create hundreds of unique Scenes. In 5.2 I adopted an alpha-numeric system to organize my Scenes. I devoted 4 characters in the beginning of my Scene file names to my code so I could keep 200+ scenes in order for easy location when editing in Editor and producing a show from Live. But in consideration of how 6.0 presents the names on the Live Buttons here is what I am doing to work-around:
-In the Home files of my Scenes, I created folders for each of the songs I have programming for, then moved the appropriate Scenes into the folders.
-Created a new Page in Live, named it for the song and loaded the buttons from the appropriate folder
The end result was I could chuck my alpha-numeric system designation of the Scenes to keep them in order as I can name the scenes whatever I want but I only have to navigate through 12 or so from each folder, as opposed to 200+. And I was able to reduce the names of my Scenes by 4 characters.
Do you see any problems with doing this? Do you have a better solution? Would it be something you would like to incorporate as a feature proper to the 6.0 program?
Thanks again! I continue to enjoy working with this new version and figuring out all its features.

Re: [6.00] Text readibility into the buttons
We see the problem.
We need some time to think about the different possible solutions.
In the meantime, may be you could use a higher resolution monitor (?) (this would help to see more characters)

Support,
I use a 19 inch wide monitor at a resolution of 1600x900. I am more likely to use a second monitor than a larger or higher resolution one.
Still I shall endeavor to keep my scene names a short as possible.
BTW: When I am in a show setting and have the Live Board in full screen I don't have a problem. Its mostly when I am editing and have the Editor, 3D and Live up with a DVD video window open.
Thanks again!

Understood.
We will see all possibilities and chose a solution, certainely before the end of this month.

Re: [6.00] Text readibility into the buttons
Support,
Thanks for listening to the input of your users. I look forward to what solution you come up with. Then I can determine how to manage my files and file names.
I am hoping to try 6.0 in a show setting in early April, with 5.2 waiting in the wings as a back up, because its a home show and I have the luxury of a full tech day and a full rehearsal day before the show day.
This will give me the opportunity to be able to really troubleshoot a problem in full show mode without the pressure of having to just "make it work" to get me through the show.
Thanks again!

Re: [6.00] Text readibility into the buttons
This is something I run into as well with the obnoxious amount of scenes I have (1,600+), which is why I requested the rename button feature, too. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.
Re: [6.00] Text readibility into the buttons
In version 6.20, we can not store the scenes files in sub-folders (Live is able to find them).
