OS2L - VirtualDJ Support

Postby djdad » 07 June 2018, 15:59

Hi,

VirtualDJ recently announced OS2L implementation (Open Sound to Light Protocol) which allows interaction with a DMX software. Seems that Sunlite Suite 2 (Beta) alread has this implemented.
Any chance to add this feature to ShowXpress ?
Thanks

Yes, this is already implemented in V9.
V9 is in Alpha state for now (means not public).
Please be patient (not possible to give a date for first Beta version).

Hello for info via this link this is OS2L active on the new version virtual dj

Some software already works with.

Sweetlight via the link does it mean that it also works with?

Otherwise, sweetlight works very well with virtual dj and theligthingcontroller8.

Highly sweetlight V9 we can discover novelties.

Implementation of OS2L and VirtualDJ needs to be improved, especially when it comes to the DMX Pad page of VirtualDJ and the ability to control your scenes from VirtualDJ.
At the moment, there is no feedback, meaning that both the Pads on VirtualDJ GUI and/or the LEDs on a MIDI controller with Pads assigned to VirtualDJ dont change status to indicate if a scene is triggered or not.

At the moment, i am only using OS2L to pass the Beat to my show, due to the above issue.

From os2l.org page..
"state (string): either "on" to light the button on, or "off" to light it off"

Can this be added in a future update ?

I am working on a Windows/Mac application which will create VirtualDJ Pads Pages with your Live Buttons, useful if you want to control your Live Buttons via the Pads of the same MIDI Controller that you use with VirtualDJ.

You will just have to OPEN the Live.ini file of your show and then drag from left side list and drop to a VirtualDJ Pad on the right side.
The Pads will get automatically the color of the Live button (for RGB MIDI controllers) and their Display texts can be edited (instead of the Live button name)
You can have up to 8 Page Banks which will be cycled via the Pad Page Parameter buttons

For Controllers that have more than 16 Pads per side (such as AKAI APC Mini, Novation Launchpads etc), there will be an additional mode in the App to directly map their buttons , because VDJ supports up to 16 Pads per Page.

Will post further details once done.

Feedback is welcomed.

Very interesting !
FYI : Another way to retrieve the buttons list is to use our "External Application Protocol" describe here https://thelightingcontroller.com/viewt ... =72&t=4183
