Ableton Live Compatibility?

Postby g3hcl101 » 05 May 2013, 14:18

Hi,

I currently have a D512 box and am running Chauvet ShowXpress, but I would like to use my interface with Ableton's DMX control feature. (Through MIDI signals)

Would this be possible or do I need a different interface?

Thanks!

The dmx interface (D512) has nothing to do with midi.
Midi messages go straight to our software, via the operating system.

I'd be curious if you get that working. Theoretically if you ran it from a separate machine Ableton could send trigger signals via midi if you had a midi interface/input for the showexpress machine. Then you could use the triggering segment to fire light cues.

A guitarist buddy of mine runs Ableton quite a lot and we have joked about controlling the lighting from it!
