Show froze up.

Postby eedetail » 02 October 2012, 15:31

First, mods please move to appropiate forum if this is not it.

I am using V 6.10 on a laptop with windows 7 premium home edition,
the box interface and an Elation stage setter 8 wing board.
I am using dmx soft patching so that the wing board can control
several fixtures with one channel. I have done at least 10 shows
recently with this setup.

Last weekend, my show froze during the second act. One relay froze
on one channel, and a couple of my movers froze in a weird spot.

I did not receive any errors on the computer screen, none of the fixtures
would respond to the computer or the wing board.

I shut down Live, and control board, and restarted control board.
The show then continued to work.

Just asking if there are any thoughts as to what happened and how
I can prevent it in the future?

Thanks,
TimE

Need to add. I am going thru an optical splitter, and also that I am using chauvet led colorpalettes.
I thought i read somewhere that the box interface and version 6.30 may not be compatible with
LED's. All other fixtures are older.

We can not help with old software version ; please install current version (it is free).
V6.30 is 100% suitable for interface Box. It just goes faster with more recent interfaces, while it keeps original speed with Box.

Oops, that is a typo on my part. I am running V 6.30 since it was released.

Any users here have their show freeze up?

If the "froze" action happen always at same time, you can send us your lightshow and tell us exactely where it happen ; we will check this.
If the "froze" action happen randomly, we suggest you to try with another computer, and with disconnected dmx line.
