Very Lost, Please Help on Setup??

Postby guardian1691 » 15 February 2012, 22:11

I have a Chauvet DMX-40B Controller, with a Chauvet Intimidator light. Recently, we've had a need to run the light using a computer instead of just the controller. I bought a Midi cable and plugged it into the back of the controller and into my laptop. I installed ShowXpress and am having a very difficult time understand just what to do to get the fixture set up on the computer so I can use it. Any help?

You have to use one of the Xpress interfaces (for example: http://www.chauvetlighting.com/xpress-512-plus.html ). These output DMX. ShowXpress is not designed to control another controller via midi it IS a DMX controller.

So, what is the point of the Midi port on the controller then?

It is possible to trigger light scenes in our software, via an external midi device.

Are you talking about the Chauvet DMX-40B? If so, I have no idea, sorry. This forum is for Sweetlight/ShowXpress. You will need to refer to the manual of the Chauvet DMX-40B to find out why it has a midi port. Sorry I can't be of more help!
