LED Moving head dimmer channel stepping

Postby jojodadj » 30 January 2012, 21:10

Hi there,

I have been using sweetlight for a fair few years now and to be honest I swear by it.

Anyway I am currently LD for a Panto in the UK and have a problem with a set of fixtures. I have a pair of JBLED A7 moving heads, everything works fine on them except the dimmer channel does not fade smoothly when fading in and out. I do not have it as a scene i'm just doing it manually from builder. I have lots of other LED and moving fixtures and they are fading fine. However I transferred my show onto my netbook to see if it was the same and to my surprise the dimmer channels were back to normal and smooth. Now both the laptops have windows 7, have exactly the same version of sweetlight and the same drivers and I am using the BOX but my bigger laptop is doing that.

Your help would be much appreciated

Thank you

Joe

Some software settings are not stored into the lightshow folder.
These settings can be set in ControlBoard > Settings.
May be there are some different settings which cause this problem (?)

I have checked all of these settings and each computer matches up. Very strange but very off putting when fading them down.

Thank you for your quick reply, do you have any other solutions?

- same laptop computers
- same operating systems (Windows 7)
- same software version
- same drivers
- same lightshow
- same software settings
So far, we do not think our software can have two different behaviours in two similar environments.
So we suggest to keep searching in the computer side.

Antivirus, firewall (?)

Hi,

Sorry about the late reply, I have been at my panto tonight and thought I would try installing the new beta software (6.30 beta3)

However this did not resolve the problem with the movers.

While I was using this version I found out that the DMX input to trigger a scene in live does not work. The DMX patch function works but this does not. Maybe something to take a look at? Let me know if you find anything wrong or if it was my fault...

I think i am going to put a fresh copy of windows 7 on the laptop and see what happens with dimmer problem.

Thank you

You can send us your lightshow.
We will check the dmx input trigger in Live.

We see the problem.
This is a new bug, due to source code change in midi/dmx inputs function.
This is fixed, and this will be available soon in a new beta version.
