Fixtures with build-in patterns and speed

This might be a monumental programming task but would it be possible, with all these new fixtures that have come out with their build-in programs, to set up the fixture's speed channel to let the software know in live what channel value matches which tempo.

I know it is almost impossible to just set it with a value but maybe if during the setup process, there was a sub routine where the program can calibrate that fixture as far as speed control. For example:

1.) Have a button on the screen blink at 60 bpm and allow the person seting up the figure to adjust the speed control so that it is as close as tempo at 60 bpm as possible and then accept that tempo.
2.) Then, have that button on the screen blink at 120bpm and allow the person seting up the figture to adjust the speed control on that and accept that tempo.
3.) Finally, have the button blink at 30bpm and adjust that same speed setting and accept the tempo.

That should allow the software to figure out if that speed control is linear or logrhytmic and with no constants between different fictures, the software could then extrapolate what setting on the DMX channel should be in order to coincide with the tempo in live (and if ever there was a DJ program that could export you that value, it would be a big help, too).

Just a thought and trying to give you some ideas on how it could be set up if there was some buy-in from the other users.
