Help with Midi

Hello All,

I'm using ShowXpress V9.1.9 with the temporary fix for now.

I need help trying to figure out Midi with this software. I want to be able to use a button my Midi device to select a fixture and then use a rotary knob/fader to adjust X/Y, Color, Gobo, etc.
How can I go about doing this? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

In short: you have to use "Live" button(s) for this, AFAIK there is no way you can assign fixtures to MIDI, it's a "Live" affair.

Have you managed to figure a way to do so, using "live" buttons?

Like mentioned, you can only control buttons with MIDI.
For Gobo selection you could make, for example, 15 buttons representing each gobo and give them a consecutive MIDI trigger data number. Let's say from 0 to 14. Make them flash buttons as well.
If you define a rotary sending out on that channel with lowest 0 and highest 14 you should be able to select them with that button. Not tried that but that would be an approach.

However for X/Y movement this would be highly undesireble given the amount of buttons needed and you do need to define the whole 127 range per function, so you basically only have 16 functions to control (16 MIDI channels) per device.

Setup pre defined scenes is the best way to move forward.
