Cannot select midi control

I am using a mac and the latest version on show xpress.
I am sending midi notes from ableton through the virtual midi on mac.
Show xpress can see it fine and I can select it. But when I do it asks me to save a new show.
Which of course is no good.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong.
This was how you used to do it?
I can get it working from ableton to show xpress from a Windows pc by doing exactly the same thing.
Anyone help?
I really need it.
