Issues with Exporting Light Shows [fixed]

Postby muscanto » 17 July 2022, 19:49

Hello,

I am having issues with exporting lightshows from the latest version. When I export the light show to an external drive and then import it on another computer, several of the generator and scene files go "missing" but they aren't really missing and are still in the show folder and at the same location. I have to manually go through the show and re-link any that are missing to the same original file. Why does this happen and what can I do it fix it?

FYI, there is no change regarding this feature in the latest version of our software.

Please post a link to download a ZIP of your lightshow (https://thelightingcontroller.com/viewt ... ?f=3&t=168). We will check it.

We made an "import" from your ZIP file, and we see several tabs in Live. Here are two of them:

They look ok for us.
Could you please tell us where is the problem ?

The purpose of emailing the lightshow was to not share the content. These screenshots defeat that purpose.

Aura Tab > Aura Fades/Chase page > some of the buttons are no longer linked to their respective files.

We checked this scene:
Image

The lightshow parameter file "live.ini" mention this file name : Aura Fades:Chase/Aura Chase.gpj
and this file does not exist in the lightshow.

Moreover, the character ":" is not allowed for file names by the Operating System.
Please do not put characters forbidden by the OS in folder/file names.

How would I have put that in there?

The name of the page is "Aura Fades/Chase"

I don't see any ":" in any of my names, but I do see it in the live.ini file like your screenshot.

In the lightshow, the only folder with the name "Aura" is "Aura Movements".
And we did not find the file "Aura Chase.gpj" in the lightshow.

I figured out the bug. On Mac OS X, if you create a page and put a generator file in it that has a "\" in the path to the file, it gets put into live.ini as a ":" in the path. This doesn't seem to break the show the computer is on but it breaks when you export the show to another computer.

Can you please investigate this?
