V7 Alpha in the Field

Postby Pink LD » 27 April 2014, 01:00

The V7 software has delivered flawless in field check of 2 hours of focus with 2 universes, with two DMX 512 hubs, going through a DMX opto/isolating splitters. I am running 10 Chauvet 250 LED Intimidators, 40 ADJ P64 LEDs, 48 pinspots, 4 dimmer packs for 4 600watt ellipsoidals. And various other small specialty lights.
Wish me luck, I'm about to run a full show with it.

I have also remoted in and have used the app with my Android Tablet.
My phone App is not working but I am not clear that that is a V7 issue.

Only a couple of oddities in the first 75 minute set. Not sure until I get back to the lab on Monday to see what happens when compared to my show notes. But it was nothing show stopping.

Only a few things in the 2nd 75 minute set, nothing I couldn't work around and probably my own programming errors.
I did not try anything midi or Timeline but DMX wing console worked well for DMX trigger inputs.

Thank you for this report.

First alpha version was not answering to Live Mobile, but this is supposed to be fixed since V 7.0.59.
However, we read weird things with Android 4.4.2, in this forum. It looks like a simple re-compile (without changing our source code) of our app, with the latest Android 4.4.2 libraries, might help for a better stability of our app. As soon as possible, we will do that (not easy because it is quite a "long" process).

PS : next version takes more time to come, because we are already working simultaneously on new features (too early to speak about).

Actually my Android tablet refused to connect for the second set. So after reboot of tablet and several mid-show attempts to connect with App, I gave up and remoted in via Teamviewer.

Here are my specs:
V7 latest Alpha version .59
DMX 512 Box x2
Main PC is a Win 8.1 32 bit with 2G ram, full touch 5 point support, Asus T100.
Wing Tablets:
Hannspree 10.1 HSG1279 with Android 4.2.2
Trio Stealth 10 with Android 4.1.1

But tablets gave me problems with the App at some point in the two separate log ins over two 75 minute sets. Eventually the only choice I had to function the show was to remote in and mirror my PC screen.
Also, as I noted on another thread that my Samsung Galaxy S4 continues to be in App circle of death. It always states it needs a restart when I boot it. But when I do reboot it, it wont let me do anything with Settings or to connect with Live. Sometimes after 3 or 4 killings of the App it may start working.

I would like to add ...I'm still not seeing different gobos on 3D for Chauvet Q-Spot 260 on Windows 7/64, had a couple crashes probably due to incoming MIDI from two sources ... Thanks Pink and Niffo!

Allan's team is presently improving Chauvet personality files & gobos for V7.

Two midi sources should not crash our software. If you know a way to easily reproduce the crash, please let us know.
