So setting a full on dimmer on one step and full off dimmer on the second step with the fade selected will only give a dimmer pulse of a half the BPM

Noted.

Been asking for this since 2015 :D (/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=3729&p=14796#p14796)
since my leds can do 25 changes pr. second and ShowXpress can do 1 :p ;)

yeah man it's frustrating. I actually did see your original post. Developers seem resistant to making the generator programming and live button performance more musical (time aligned to BPM).

As thorehl said
Instead of using Generator to make a dimmer pulse, create everything you need in Generator apart from dimming. Then create a Steps-file with your dimmer channel, and activate it a all using a macro button

This is exactly how to profit as best as possible of the possibilities of our software.

Regarding Generator
There is no start time, no end time and no steps.
A Generator scene is a crazy complex scene where several different duration curves are merged together.
There is no specific points to play/pause in.

Regarding Steps
It is possible to make "play/pause" actions via any trigger (BPM, Beat, midi, tap, ...).
We have understood that half/quarter of BPM would be welcome.
This is noted. We will check the possibility as soon as we could do it.

There is no need to threaten to change for a new product.
We love our job, and we do as fast as possible.
If we are not able to satisfy your needs fast enough, we apologize for that, and we understand you leave us for another product.

I still love the program. It is very powerful and versatile. After watching all of the Darren Fields videos and getting a apc mini you can really unlock possibilities within the LIVE pages. My critiques are just to make this the perfect product I want. I still believe the timeline programming and generator should have snapping alignments to a beat grid like many people have said.

I was looking for the generator to sync and repeat to the bpm so that you can utilize the more precise curves to program performances that can sync to the eighth note and off beats without programming a static sequence in timeline.

Thanks for your input I will try to do something like what you are saying.

seantosz wrote:I understand generator is more complex and operates at a higher frequency rate of change. However there is also a repeat time in the parameters to adjust when you set up the generator. In live mode you can adjust this somewhat with a speed slider. So why not at least a BPM slider or have it calculate the repeat time based on the manual/auto bpm present ?

For example: 120 bpm is 60 s / 120 = 0.5s so why can't you set the Generator to 0.5s Could even set whole note, half note, quarter note settings?

[request] BPM to generator repeat time

thanks

Balancing generator complexity and user-friendliness is crucial. Including a BPM slider or auto-calculating repeat time based on BPM would enhance user experience, making it more intuitive and versatile.

Thank you for reaching out. To achieve the pulse effect in ShowXpress, you can try the following steps:

Use Scenes: Create scenes in ShowXpress that include the desired lighting effects, such as color changes or dimmer adjustments.

Speed Control: ShowXpress may not have a built-in BPM (beats per minute) control for the generator, but you can control the speed of the scenes by using the speed slider or fader in the software.

Live Control: As you mentioned, you can use a speed slider in the live control mode to sync your lighting effects to the music manually. Adjust the slider to match the beat of the music as closely as possible.

Experiment: It may take some trial and error to get the exact pulse effect you desire. You can also experiment with creating different scenes and adjusting their speed settings to match the music tempo.

While ShowXpress may not have an automated BPM synchronization feature for generators, manual control using the live mode and adjusting the speed slider to match the beat can help you achieve similar effects. Additionally, you can consider reaching out to the ShowXpress community or support for any potential updates or plugins that offer more advanced beat synchronization features.

I hope this helps you achieve the effect you're looking for!
