Device Drivers not installing

Postby djrussw1 » 25 May 2020, 12:32

I just got an Xpress rack 1024. I am using Windows 7. I have a D512 box that I still currently use with V8.2. I installed version 9 on my computer. When I plug in the rack1024, the drivers are not installed automatically. I tried installing the drivers manually, but I keep getting the error 'The install class is not present or is invalid'. I have tried to install it on 2 different laptops and my desktop, all with the exact same result. All of them are running Windows 7. I am pretty good with computers and have tried everything I can think of. Uninstalling v9 and tried installing the drivers first. Uninstalling old versions of ShowXpress (v8.2) and uninstalling old drivers that I use with my D512 box. Nothing has worked. I'm at my wits end! Any ideas?

Windows 7 needs the latest Digital Signature libraries for our current usb drivers.
This is theoretically possible to install, but certainly not easy to do, because Windows 7 is not supported anymore by Microsoft.

But it's not giving me an error saying the driver isn't signed. It's saying the 'Install Class is not present or is invalid'. That doesn't sound like a digital signature problem. Would that still be a digital signature issue giving me that error?

Sorry we do not know because we did not try.
We just know that, since Windows 7 is not supported anymore by Microsoft, Microsoft stopped providing any assistance on that. Their target is clear: to force the customers to move to Windows 10.

So the only answer without buying a new $1000 computer would be to send back the $700 Xpress-rack 1024 and the $4000 worth of Slim Par Pro H lights I just purchased? I just read an article where companies can make dual versions of their drivers that are digitally signed for both Windows 10 and older versions like Windows 7. Is it possible to get such a driver? If not, then Chauvet and other companies should be taking the 'Windows 7 compatible' off there sites!

You can upgrade to Windows 10 on the same computer

That would open up even more headaches. And I shouldn't have to if the product says it's compatible with Windows 7.

The software works well on Windows 7 (it even works well on Windows XP).
The problem is the usb drivers level of security which is required by Microsoft.
It is not possible/allowed to publish usb drivers with the Windows 7 digital encryption certificates.
It is possible to publish usb drivers only with the lastest digital encryption certificates.
And since Microsoft stopped their support for Windows 7, it looks like they block the digital encryption signatures update for Windows 7 (to force the customers to update their OS to Windows 10).

We are sorry for these problems which are beyond our control.
We have updated our FAQ regarding this matter, and we inform right now our partners to do same.
