Must have all fixtures hooked up?
Must have all fixtures hooked up?
I have twelve LED PAR cans and have set up scenes using the whole show. When we play smaller venues, we may want to use only eight fixtures . . . can I use the same 12-fixtures scenes and just not hook up the extra four cans? (assume I have the proper DMX addressing for the cans I do hang) Will the software (or the fixtures that ARE hung) garp if DMX instructions are sent to non-existent fixtures? Or should I just set up some eight-can scenes?
Re: Must have all fixtures hooked up?
You can run the 12 fixtures scenes, with only 8 fixtures connected.
No problem.
No problem.

Wow!! Thx for the prompt reply!!
And it's even the answer I wanted. I'm new to the DMX control game, but it makes sense . . . the software simply sends out instructions . . . if there's a fixture with an address contained in the instruction, the fixture performs as ordered; if there's no fixture at a particular address, the instruction is ignored. Cool!!
Thanks again!!
