Creating a "hotspot"

Hey guys!

As alot of you guys probably know (well in the UK atleast) most pubs dont have free wifi so I'm looking at turning my laptop into a hotspot so the laptop and tablet can talk, thus being able to use the app.

My question is, will this drain my data usage? While im here, be good if the developers could make it so the app can be used when connected via USB!

Cheers,
Chris

Hook to a wireless router you don't need Internet just signal. Or just create a network on your computer.

Can support shed any light? Would using the app/software drain much of my data usage on my plan?

My understanding is data is used when you get on the net. The Live Mobile app doesn't use the net, just the intranet(internal not on the World Wide Web) to connect to the showxpress program so you should be good.

I am using an "old" router I do not need anymore and it just works perfect. Wifi for connecting is fast enough.
But I also saw programs like "Virtual WiFi Router" etc which create a network from the pc. Maybe this is better for you.

you can do an internal network using Hotspot - Connectify... very easy to use and you dont need real internet connection... what it makes its to inter-connect pc-to-pc or pc-to-device via wireless like an internet connection... but without drain your data usage (if you talk about 3G in your mobile)

Yep. Been using an old WiFi rputer for years to walk around via my tablet or mobile, and to remote into my PC with a laptop to walk on stage and update focuses at each venue.

In bigger venues I have a WiFi extender I can put inline halfway down my snake run.
