Who is using external audio cards with success?

Postby davelerbakken » 25 June 2014, 05:13

Hi,

I'm using a Native Instruments Audio 2 DJ with my 2013 Retina MacBook Pro for my triggered audio tracks. It's pretty buggy. There's crosstalk between tracks, and sometimes a split second of the previous track gets played when the new track is triggered. It's a mess.

Is anyone using an external sound card with success? How about with USB 3.0? I have Thunderbolt on my MacBook Pro, so USB, Firewire, and Thunderbolt are available.

Thanks!

I have been using either the Behringer UCA202 unit on my small mixer, and I use the built in usb on my A&H Zed24 with no problems at all. But it should be noted that I only use .wav files to ensure that I have no problems.

Hello!
I use a TC ELECTRONIC DESKTOP KONNEKT 6 in firewire , and sometimes an Hercules DJ CONSOLE 4-Mx in USB but only one side ( first stereo out) works.
You have to choose the output in preference system on your Mac ;)

What advantage does wav have over mp3?

MP3 is compressed file; it needs more processor time, and external codecs for decoding.
WAV is pure non compressed file.
