Wanting to purchase, frustrated by too-few profiles

Postby maxballroom » 19 November 2013, 20:32

Hi,

I'm wanting to purchase the SweetLight D512 after seeing favourable reviews, however it appears that the fixture profiles that I require appear to be non-standard. I've used dmx software before, however this is my first real attempt. Here's the issues and as I'm not a budding IT specialist or programmer, I need to know if these profiles are available (I'm wanting to use sweet light after having failed with Chromateq to get some of their supported profiles working. My setup is as follows:

2 x KAM XY Laser (10-Channel)
Prolight Equinox Quadzilla (6-Channel)
QTX LED Folding ParBar (15-Channel)
QTX HZ3 Hazer - this is similar to the Chauvet product and others I think
2 x Beams S2000 LED RGB smoke machine (similar to Chauvet Geyser RGB)
American DJ Megapixel (28-Channel)
6-Channel Beams LED Bar (Chauvet Colorstrip profile works with Chromateq DMX)

Perhaps I've purchased obscure lights and I don't know if it's even possible to get them to work with Sweetlight.

I've looked for several of the profiles and can't find them anywhere. I'm really sorry in advance that I'm not an expert like other forum members and whilst the Chromateq solution has thousands of profiles, I'd rather purchase a more robust solution from Sweetlight and grow my setup so that I can get the benefits of using a good strong product. I have not got the aptitude to build profiles so if they exist for the Sweetlight then that would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance for any advice thank you.

It is fairly easy to request a fixture profile from the Techs here, provided you have documentation of what the DMX channels do.
Having said that? I make generic fixture profiles myself for a variety of obscure fixture I come across, either I buy or come across when touring. It is not really hard to do, but it does take some tweaking to understand all the features offered in the software to build profiles with.
The best route is utilise the "Fixture Profile Request" portion of this forum while submitting a link or attachment of the fixtures DMX tech specs. Once the Techs get you a profile built, you can tweak the profile to your exact specs and/or preferences.

Our software bank slowly goes to 3 thousands profiles.
Some competitors might have one or two thousands more.
But there is totally tens of thousands of existing fixtures.
Moreover, productions after productions, fixtures (same model name) are regularly different than in previous production.

At the end, we all oftenly do not have the correct profile for you, in our software bank.
Our solution is: ask for it and we will do it for you.
