X-Factor (the Box) on Windows 8 64bit?

Postby uptownxpress » 22 April 2013, 16:59

I am trying to install the USB driver for the xfactor on a new Windows 8 64bit laptop. I installed ShowXpress successfully, but windows never seems to find the drivers for the interface box. The box is powered by usb only.

I download everything from: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=114

I have tried the solutions offered in other posts about the signatures too.

Whenever I point the unknown usb device to the drivers folder it does not see any devices to choose.

What am I doing wrong? Does the XFactor work on Windows 8?

Ok, which driver file did you choose?

I have tried uninstalled showxpress, reinstalled it, then plug in the XFactor, then try to manually update the driver, point to the driver.zip (which I unziped into a folder) and it does not see any appropriate driver.

Can you please offer some more explanation or detailed steps, or files I should delete first or remove manually ? I have tried many different ways of doing it and never with success.

I have follow each of your steps. When I get to choose the inf file, I choose BOX 64 bits, and windows keeps telling me :

"The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems."

I have tried pointing it to the 32 bit inf also, I have tried every single inf in the drivers folder, they always give this error.

Can you please help? What can be wrong?

UPDATE: somehow after trying a few times, rebooted, it let me install the driver!

BUT, now the device says "The device can not start (Code 10). A Request for the USB Device descriptor failed."

How do we fix this now?

Another update, I saw a post about the descriptor mentioned Asus. The machine I am trying is a Asus VivoBook X202E, it has 1 USB 3.0 port and 2 USB 2.0 ports. I have tried on all usb ports, and always get this error.

In order to know if our interface has a problem, please check it with another computer.

Now this is weird, I used to use this xfactor on my Dell laptop for years (which is windows vista 32 bit), now I've been trying on the new laptop.

As you suggested I tried back on the old laptop, and it did not recognize the device. I manually choose the driver, and same thing Code 10, can not start...

Does this mean my Box died?!

If no way be recognized by any computer, there is a good chance the interface is faulty.
