WTF is going on with my fixtures?
Posted: 31 October 2015, 01:23Why are my fixtures flashing like crazy when they're plugged into the Xpress 512? They should be off but instead it's like they're just going through presets automatically.
Check the following points:
1. Run mode of each fixture, maybe its set to standalone and acts as a dmx transmitting unit.
2. Remove ANY additional hardware like splitters, wireless dmx etc. before moving on with the next steps.
3. Dmx cables: check ONE "simple" fixture of which you are sure it works with all cables you have. Also shake the cables while sending dmx data.
4. Build up your dmx setup slowly and add only one fixture one time because maybe one fixture is broken.
5. Try your hole setup with another dmx controller, maybe there's something wrong with your interface.
With these tips you should be able to see what is exactly the problem.
For me this sounds very much like a broken cable (Ground loop), which might be dangerous for your interface.
