Lost dmx control

Hello,

yesterday during a show one of the moving heads got overheated and caused a power breakdown on the circuit with the dmx controlled lights. After removing the moving head and adjusting the dmx cables I still cannot control any light with Sweetlight. Is my interface burned? I use the D512; Sweetlight version 6.333 on windows 7 professionnel. The pc link still turns green when sweetlight is running (however seems to flicker faster all the time?) Universe is found and I can turn dmx on (green) in editor and live.
I have checked dmx channels and cables on the lights. I also tried building a new light show with just one light but still no reaction?
What could be the cause?

Thanks,

Matt

With some luck, only the "dmx driver" chip is burned.
This chip is socket mounted, so it can easily be changed.
The reference is 75176.
The price is less than one euro.
You can find it here: http://uk.farnell.com/texas-instruments ... dp/1103022

We suggest you to open the casing (4 screws), and change this chip.

Support,
Would a DMX pti-isolator have prevented this failure. I use them myself and I am wondering what you think?

An optical isolator device is supposed to protect the dmx interface from all troubles coming from the dmx line.

Please note that interfaces Remote and Rack embed their own opto-isolator circuitry.

A few years ago, the same thing happened to me.
To prevent this in the future I would buy a booster / splitter.
Normally it amplifies your signal, however it also puts a numer of fuses between yoor different lights.
Should this ever happen again then the rest of your lights just contineus.
You already have a booster / splitter from € 99.00 and it is worth it I think.

Bonjour,
Salutations
