Driver won't load for Xpress 512 on Win7

Postby dbodette » 06 January 2013, 05:01

I have downloaded the latest Show Express 6.31 and drivers from the website and when I plug in the Xpress 512 it says it can't find the driver. I manually go to the Drivers folder, to the 32 bit folder (since I am running Win7 32-bit) and it says it loads the 64 bit 1.04 driver and that it's the wrong platform so there was an error. It's like the 32 bit driver is actually the 64 bit by mistake. The filename is D512_32bits_V104 but it comes up as the 64 bit in the device property. Can you send me the correct 32 bit driver? Thanks

It looks like, for an unknown reason, our 64bits driver files are stored in your system, so your system is trying to use them.
Please force your system to a manual driver update with our 32bits driver files.

I tried that and a window pops up and says:
"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device"
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
D512 Interface (version 1.04)
The system cannot find the file specified

I deleted the 64 bit folder so the only thing that is left is the 32 bit folder.

What do you suggest?

Thanks

Deleting the 64bits folder does not change anything, because the system has copied the files in another "protected" folder" ; this is the reason the system keeps showing this message.
There is however a possibility, in the "Driver upgrade" menus, to force the system to use other driver files, but this is not easy (this is Windows).
If you can not find this menu option (which has a different look depending on the OS version), we suggest you to ask some help from somebody with a good knowledge on Windows to do this operation.
