Sweetlight DMX Lighting Controller via RS 232

Hello,

I have a sweetlight DMX Lighting Controller model swl512P with serial nr 010558, 8 buttons version. I'm trying to connect this rack controller to my laptop. Unfortunately, there is no RS 232 port on this laptop. I tried with a USB tot RS232 connector to build up communication, but it didn't work. It's an ATEN USB-to-Serial (RS-232) Converter, model UC-232A.

Maybe I have to adjust some settings from the converter, but I do not know where to start. Or maybe it simply isn't possible...

My configuration is a Windows 7 Acer Aspire 5935, latest Sweetlight software version.

Thank you for your efforts.

With regards,

Dennis Pijpers

A "long" time ago, we made a test with this usb to rs232 converter, under Windows XP (Seven was not existing).
It was a pain to set up the parameters, but we finally were able to make it work.
But we do no remember the required setting (sorry for this).

Another important detail: you must use software V5 with our RS232 interfaces.

Unfortuanelly, the controller doesn't come to life with the required adapter..

Is it correct that there's an indication led on the power switch?

Does anyone had more info like an service manual or something? (wishfull thinking :)

Thanks in advandce!
